A Christmas Carol by Gardi A Christmas Carol by Gardi
Ryba insisted that I would've finished this by Friday, so I did.
Have you ever read A Christmas Carol?
I absolutely adore it.
The old man is Ebenezer Scrooge and the gost is his dead friend and business partner, Marley.
They were both very miserly, mean and extremely ignorant towards other people. Then, at about Christmas time, Marley died and Scrooge started to hate Christmas, the time when people become kind and warm-harted, even more. Seven years later, the ghost of deceased Marley appears in Scrooge's house; there are heavy chains tied around his body. He comes to warn Ebenezer: If he doesn't care about others and help people with the money he has, he'll surely meet the same fate and will have to walk the Earth wrapped in chains as 'heavy' as his sinful gred is. Three more ghosts are to visit Scrooge: Past (to show what Ebenezer lost when he became greedy), Present (who shows him all the poverty and misery that lies in the streets of London) and Future (to show him the death of the young son of his only clerk, Bob Cratchit, who hasn't enough money to afford a doctor, and eventually the funeral of Scrooge himslef, where people come to steal things from his house, not to mourn for him).
Yes. It was the first Enlglish book I've read and it still appeals to me. The movie, starring Stewart, is brilliant, too.
It might've been a year or so since I last saw the movie, so please excuse any mistake in the plot ^^;;

Wow.... The white hair works great on the ghost. As does the contrast of the ethereal robe and the mist stuff against the heavy chains.... Maybe I'd make the chains either cut in more or let them dangle, this way it seems as if he had a thick solid arm.... Anyway. The candlelight effect is interesting. And I love Scrooge's face, especially the nose. But the right arm seems to grow from a rather strange place ^^;
Some more rambling about composition - the center is not the place you should have your focal point in, maybe if the picture showed more of the ghost and less of Scrooge, it would work even better.....
And slap me for this comment sounding too negative.... Not what I meant at all ^^;
